Art college? illustration major?

i'm reaching my last year at my high school (an arts school) and i'm really confused about what i want to do. if i went into art i would like to major in illustration but i've contacted two artists in the area and they both discouraged that idea because of how the field is so competitive now. is it really that bad? how many people regret going to an arts college?

Art college? illustration major?
I will never regret going to art school{a local community college for design and Cornish for fine art] I would advise you to pursue your dream of art and back it up with a skill that will help you financially in case art doesn't end up payin the bills and feeding you. It is extremely competitive, but any artist worth his/her salts will never give up their creative bent. Give it a go, you just might be the one to prove us all wrong. I work in the printing industry and make beautiful art on the side, sometimes it sells sometimes, most times it just gets a lot of oooohhhsss and aaahhhhssss. Either way I am glad to have been born with this amazing gift and am happy to just be able to create. Good luck!
Reply:i want to get into art! dont let other people let you down of course its competative! theres always gona be someon better than you. try your best and if youve got talent use it in competitons!
Reply:Competitive is already a good sign in your career.

The most important thing is be confident in yourself.

Show the best that you can.
