i need an idea for a short 5 minute presentation that will spark a disscussion in the classroom
some examples of previous projects: some people have done a slideshows on a guy that draws mad good sidewalk chalk drawings, the line between pornography and art, and lego block art...
i was possibly thinking freemason art and architecture and the symbolism behind it, but i know almost nothing about it and its hard to find credible non conspiracy info..
Art Project... need help?
Masonic Architecture can be tricky (elusive, if not sketchy records or recollections), but if you want a primer on some of the symbology common in Freemasonry, I recommend "Freemasons for Dummies" - written by a Mason, Chris Hodapp. He's very upfront about what he can and can't discuss - an excellent book for Masons and the curious alike.

You may find it in your local library, if not ask.
That said, the following discussion will likely not provide constructive discussion (unless there are vocal Freemasons in the classroom to provide informed, educated, representation). Misinformation and conspiracy theories are prevelant, and sure to be shared in the classroom - if this is not the intent, I suggest an alternative topic.
How about the medium of comic books and graphic novels? Big difference from the early Detective Comics and the current day Dark Horse works, for instance.
Reply:graffiti has gobs of web sites and you can contact the writers and many of them will reply and be very helpful
just type in art crime or graffiti and get a bazillion choices, click on images and get a bazillion more.
if you are really committed to the freemason and architecture presentation, talk to some freemasons or an architect or two or a structural engineer would have the information you need and it wouldn't be riddled with the conspiracy fluff.
Reply:How about graffiti and the line it draws between art and breaking the law? That should spark a discussion since some people see it as art while others see it has destruction of property.
Reply:Draw and compare landscapes. For example: mountains, hills, oceans. Compare the different colors, different structures
Reply:do a project with clay
Reply:not sure how i can help i can tell you to check out some artist sites that i will link on here hope this help good luck with you project
Reply:I like your idea, but you might want to keep it simple. Especially if you want to spark a conversation. Try showing some of Picasso's strangest cubist paintings and give a brief description of what he was trying to do and some arguments towards it's validity. Maybe graffiti art. That is an easy topic to research from newspaper articles and not often seen as true art. Philadelphia actually promotes some graffiti art. Worst case scenario, have them compare two famous nude paintings.
Reply:finger painting ????
Reply:do contempory art, i did about it and there are lots of websites about it
Reply:how about graffiti?
