Do you like art?
I was raised in many cultures around the world in a family that was non-religious but very spiritual about deriving meaning. Art, in all of it's manifestations, has been a significant source for me in my exploration of human meaning. I was surrounded by artfulness as a child, from ikebana (Japanese floral composition and balance), wood carving, bronze / stainless steel / and iron sculpturing, ceramics, clothing design and tatting (lace making), charcoal and ink sketching, oil and watercolor painting, calligraphy, all music, opera, violin, piano, all dance, cake decorating and culinary arts and presentation, gardening and landscape design, performance art, acting, poetry, storytelling, whatever. I am most grateful for that artful environment. I am best at watercolor, ikebana and writing fiction for children. Educational programs without abundant arts is like society shooting itself in its own foot. Troubles in our communities do not rise out of what is ugly around us but from the lack of beauty and balance.

Reply:i always loved how art represents different forms of expression.

i always thought as a kid you had to use the specific techiniques to be an artist and since i never took art classs i assumed i couldnt draw.

and im currently takin one in college and found out im one of the best in my class and i dont even major in art or brag like the rest who have been "real trained artists" for years.

i think the meaning behind your art and work and thought you put into it all determines how beautiful the art truly is and gifted the artist may be
Reply:I consider myself to be a semi (or should I say Pseudo) professional artist. I have sold some pieces of art, but not many and not for much, but I find I get the most joy from just showing it off.

It may be cheesey and even sound a bit immature, but my favorite kind of art is fan art. Why fan art, you say? Because fan-art (I feel) lets me see inside a person's current obsessions and their likes and dislikes. I think a lot of times fine-arts and real arts (not always, just often) people try too hard to be "artsy."

I remember when I was in kindergarten I told my mother I didn't know why I needed to learn all that other stuff because already knew I was going to be an artist when I grew up. I may not do it as a career, but I've done it all my life and I'm a grown woman now. I dabble in all kinds of mediums and try different styles, because I also feel that an open-ness to try a variety of art-forms helps one become a more well-rounded artist
Reply:no cause i cant draw
Reply:i love looking at art, but i cant draw to save my life

bruhgel- his work holds my attention to his detail for ages.

Reply:yeah, I do like art! I feel about art as expressing your feelings. I always have experience of art like having an art subject in my school way back in graders (sometimes I miss it)! sorry, but I have no idea what I'm best at in art.
Reply:I love art and I believe it enriches the world. I know that children need art and I am not happy when I see cuts being made to art, music, drama, in schools.

I was very good at art in school, have made it my career, and will probably be creative in some form as long as I live.

I also believe that many things we do art creative and that you do not have to call yourself an artist to be creative.
Reply:the story behind it is what amazes me.
Reply:i luv art. it's ao much fun bc there's not a specific way 2 do it; u just do what u want. the art form i like the best...hmmm...either sketching or painting. shading my sketches r always a load of fun. definately keep art in school! i can't imagine it w/out.
