Take a look at My art?

I'm 19, I have been into art since I was about 9 or 10. I have never had any interest in sports, or anything. It's like Art is my release. I was a Graphic designer for a News paper at 18. I won my first national competition at 13.

I live in Eastern KY, there are no jobs that pay anything here. pretty much have to go to the military or the coal mines to make more than $10 an hour. I have tried selling Art, but no one respects it enough. I made 7 dollars an hour as a graphic designer, the horrible part though

I SEE MY ART ON BILLBOARDS, AND FLYERS. from when I worked at the paper. It kills me to think how much money has been made off of my ability without me even seeing it.

anyways here is a slide show of my ART. not all of it just the few pieces I could manage to find on this computer.

tell me what you think. if you don't like tell me why, I'd love to hear.

Take a look at My art?
This is a big struggle for artists everywhere, but especially those of us who live in small population areas. I have been a graphic artist for 7 years and I barely keep myself fed. However, I am also not a city person and I enjoy my lifestyle of simplicity and the quiet to create. Some things are worth the tradeoff. If you want to get rich off of art, I have to agree that you need to move to a large city or find a way to market yourself off of the web. I personally think you do art primarily for yourself, and pleasing others is just the icing on the cake. I think you should be proud about the billboard, but if they really did pay you very little, you need to tell them to take it down and let them know you will design something else...for a price! At the very least, make sure you take some good photos for your portfolio of those billboards - great compliment to you.
Reply:I think your art is cool!
Reply:I agree completely with mesh, you have potential but you'll need formal training to really make the most of it. if for whatever reason you can't get it, get every book/read websites/etc. you can on the subject of art, art history, concept art, and STUDY. You'll learn loads and your art will improve as a result. Good luck, and keep drawing!
Reply:I have dial-up so it took a while for me to view your artwork. I have this to say...

So sorry you aren't working.. [nor am I] but I think you need to get to a place where someone can appreciate your dynomite abilities. I love many of your pieces: the red/orange one for one example. I've had just 4 semesters of art... your stuf rocks!

Your ideas are terrific and you need to get to a university or college that specializes in your area of artistic talents and show your work to the art teachers. You certainly have talent, dear! It doesn't hurt to talk to the teachers... they can only help or give you more ideas as to where to go next.

If you absolutely must go into the military... do try to see if you can do something in the field of map-making... aircraft, machine drafting or anything of that type of field. How about a printing shop for the mean time for some $$ ?

DON'T just allow anyone to use your artwork WITHOUT financial compensations for your future! Get the heck out of your area, yea it's tough, but seek out whom can use your great talents! You have a lot to offer!

By the way dude, I'm 56...an ol' gal in Calif. I can see you having a good job, but not where you are not appreciated for your great qualities. Best of luck and may you see your rewards you are searching for!
Reply:O.k first of all, if you are only 19, you need to get the hell out of Kentucky if you're going to make a living at this at all. Move to Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where the major media markets are. Enroll in one of the major art college's there and get your degree in Graphic Design. You will never make a living doing art unless you are in one of those major markets. You have talent but you need to take the risk and get out of Kentucky. Make sure to create a professional portfolio and a good resume telling your accomplishments and professional experience. Now is the time kid.

There are also online sites that hire freelance artists. I think one of them used to be called Moonlighter.com but I think it changed its name. Also, look on Monsterjobs.com for graphic design positions. But do yourself and your career a favor and get out of Kentucky.
Reply:You won me over. Not thrilled with the first half, but could easily envision several from the second half blown up %26amp; framed.

Very nice.
Reply:I liked the 1st one and the last one, and also the orange eyeball lookin thing. Hella sick. Keep up the good work.
Reply:I think you have some true potential as a graphic artist. I browsed through some other sketches and they were extremely well done as well. I think you should get out of KY and move to a big city where you could really get recognized for your talent.
Reply:Hi there. I really enjoyed your art! I was wondering... the 4th photo really stuck out to me, and is something I'd really love as a chest piece tattoo. If there's any possible way you could make something very similar without the blur. Would be wonderful!! Let me know! :D
Reply:Your work is good for being 19, but it's all very stylized/trendy/young and I can't see anything that is strongly conceptual. It looks like you could use some formal training to be more marketable and expand the clientele that could use your work. In design, money is made by solving problems clients may not know they have, that may be difficult to pull off at 19. You need to have some mentors in the profession that are older. I've been working in design for almost as long as you've been alive, I see potential in your work, but you need formal training before you can make a lot of money.
Reply:I have to tell you.....you're very good. Stay at this. Someday you'll make good money doing what you do. But you probably have to get out of KY. But there probably are ways to get this stuff to prople that count no matter where you are. But stick to it and don't give up - you're good.
Reply:SSSSSOOOO cool!!!! i love your artwork. its awsome!! my favorite was i think the 3rd one. did you do all of it on the computer?? i would love to learn how to create stuff like that.
Reply:U are soooo talented i liked the one with the bals falling and the popcorn one at the end made me laugh cause i wasn't expecting that....Keep it up!!!!

Luv them!!!
Reply:Dude, get out of there. Your art is great. You could be big! I mean it! I major in visual arts too (haha and yes, I never had any interest in sports either XD, I've been drawing since I was 3) and I know what I'm talking about... I seriously think your stuff is amazing. Don't allow others to walk all over you like that. Your art is worth some big bucks right there.
Reply:You've got some excellent fractal artwork. It's good you've been pursuing art so long. I have been drawing and painting since was 7 or 8. To get some more exposure you can get a deviant art account. It's a good way to get your name out there. Keep it up!
Reply:This is my 2nd time seeing it well I actually looked at it about 4 or 5 times already...I really think you are very talented and I love it ...It is soothing to the eye. I Wish you GOOD LUCK at persueing a career with it. I think you are not in the correct area to sell it...You need to go to CA or come East where I think the arts are appreciated more...I have friend that is very talented also and he is having a hard time in PHILA. I guess its right place ,right time like most things in LIFE...GOOD LUCK! Keep up the great job ,at least you love doing it and you found your passion..
Reply:I like!

the first one and the blk and white one towards the end were probably my favorite.

I liked the ones with your name all the best, i guess it's just the kind of art i prefer...

all very nice, keep it up, leave eastern ky....! i lived near there and it's not where you want to be....
