Does Art Therapy include writing therapy?

I am a psychology major. I am looking into different forms of therapy in addition to talk therapy. A fellow student in one of my psychology classes is majoring in Psychology-Art Therapy. So I became interested in it, also. I write often. I find that it helps me sort out my feelings and to grow as a person. Does Art Therapy include writing (writing in journals, stories, poetry, etc.) as well as drawing, painting, etc.? Also, does it include performing arts such as dance? Please, only serious answers. If at all possible, please include websites referrels with additional information!

Does Art Therapy include writing therapy?
yes
Reply:Yes. Art therapy can be music related, too.
Reply:I would think so, but even in psychology they have people write journals so that the psychologist can see what is going on in the persons head. I know this because my dad is a psychologist he graduated from University of Miami with his EdD in marriage and family psychology. :) But, if you want to know the exact answer go talk to your school counselor or the head of the psychology department at your school so you get the exact information! :)

Good luck!
Reply:Yes there is Art Therapy is a form of therapy but it takes training to learn the art is telling you.

There is also writing therapy but again it takes special training.

If you feel that you would like to practice those therapies and you like to learn them, both are widely used.
