If you go to an Art Museum...what kind of art really catches your eyes.....?

Modern - Abstract art - like a Kandinski

Impressionistic art - Like Degas, Van Gogh or Monet

Itailian art - like biblical scenes of mary and jesus and the last supper.

realism

landscapes

portraits

or Other?

We went to the Detroit Institute of Arts yesterday to see the new grand opening of the new wing....that's what brought this up....

If you go to an Art Museum...what kind of art really catches your eyes.....?
Impressionistic art is my all-time love - I adore Renoire, Degas and Monet, too... For me it's like magic, because these painters managed to catch some moment of sheer beauty, a ray of light, a movement, something in the air, and expressed that on canvas. Their pictures are tangible (not like abstract art), and yet ephemeral...

Symbolism - like Edvard Munch's pictures - for this tragic perception of the world.

Speaking about genres, I especially enjoy looking at portraits - for me it's very interesting to see what people were like in different epochs.

Seascapes!!! :))
Reply:i love abstract art. anything with bright colors or anything random and unusual.
Reply:Renaissance art mesmerizes me every time.
Reply:In 1998 I was in Paris for my own exhibition in Miromesnil.

I spent two days in the Louvre, it still wasn't enough time.

I think being in the physical presence of masterpieces by artists such as Rembrandt and Michelangelo was profoundly spiritual and surreal.

It does something to you. I felt unworthy to be in the presence of such greatness. It was an overwhelmingly emotional experience for me.
