Is censorship ok in art?

Russel Simmons wants to not use words like "******, ho, and *****" in songs. But since music is a form of art why would censorship be ok here? Art is supposed to be a form of expression. You cannot nit pick what you wanna edit out of songs just because YOU find the terms offensive. Art has been used for hundreds of years as a way to rebel and press the limits of acceptable taboos and ideas. To take away words you don't find acceptable is like taking away a certain color of paint from a painter because you don't really like the color blue. Where will the final line be drawn once freedoms in art are taken away from us? This situation reminds me when Ashcroft covered the naked statues in the Capital because he felt it was immoral. Artwork is supposed to be given extra levity compared to every day life because of the fact that it is art. Oppinionated facists like Al Sharpton should have their voices heard, but not limit what the opposition is capable of hearing.

Is censorship ok in art?
Censorship is fine as long as it does not change the original intended message in the work of art. Vulgarities simply express anger most of the time. Censorship is a sometimes a ploy to make the rebellious feel even more so. An avenue for the restless to rage.
